Hungry Harvest Review
My review of Hungry Harvest, a mission-driven business delivering fresh produce with the aim to fight food waste and hunger. Keep reading to learn more about this service, as well as for a discount code if you want to try it out yourself!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HUNGRY HARVEST:
Hungry Harvest is a fresh produce delivery service whose whole mission is to end food waste and hunger one box at a time. The company was born in the dorm room of Evan Lutz, CEO & Co-Founder, back in 2014, who dreamed of changing the food system. Today, Hungry Harvest delivers produce across nine US states, and over the years has reduced over 12 million pounds of food from going to landfills and provided access to over 915,000 pounds of produce to people in need.
HOW IT WORKS:
- Hungry Harvest sources produce from farms and wholesalers, recovering fruit and vegetables that are perfectly good to eat but may have some aesthetic imperfections that would result in them getting thrown away.
- They assemble boxes of produce at their warehouse and deliver customised Harvest boxes straight to your front door!
- For every box delivered, they also donate produce to local hunger relief programmes.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
The produce varies depending on the time of year when you order, and there are options for organic produce. You can also customise your box and add in any specialty items (including bars, grains, dressings, etc). My Mini Harvest box included:
- Asparagus
- Cauliflower
- Red potatoes
- Kale
- Acorn Squash
- Onions
- Oranges
- Mangos
COOKING WITH HUNGRY HARVEST:
I got my Hungry Harvest delivery shortly before Easter Sunday, and so actually used quite a lot of the produce to cook up our Easter lunch – you can read more about it in the post Vegan Easter 2019:

- Customisable boxes, with organic options, and produce mainly sourced from local farms.
- Prices on produce which are often less than your average grocery store.

- Hungry Harvest also donates part of their produce to hunger-solving organisations every week!
*Not a sponsored post, but I was kindly gifted a mini Hungry Harvest box to try. There was no obligation to do a blog post, that was my idea! All opinions are my own and I would not be sharing if I did not genuinely love what Hungry Harvest does. If you love this concept, but live in the UK, check out my review of Oddbox, which does a similar service across the pond in London!
Hi Bekah.
Such a great read about fighting Food Waster with Hungry Harvest. In the USA. I would love to reduce food waste and help the planet and wish Hungry Harvest could come to the UK ?? Hertfordshire/London.
Aww I will definitely read your blog post about Odd Box London and see if they deliver in my local area of Hertfordshire, hope they do? There are so many fresh home delivery services around and I have know idea which ones are best.
