How to Make a Midnights Album Smoothie Bowl

A red and blue swirled Midnights album smoothie bowl – perfect for celebrating February and Taylor Swift’s Grammy nominations!

The Grammy’s and Midnights

The Grammy’s are now just a few days away, so you can bet I’ve got Midnights on my mind. Will you be watching? It’s on at 8pm ET, and Taylor Swift is up for 6 awards for her Midnights album. To celebrate, here’s the recipe for my Midnights Album themed smoothie bowl, and how I made it!

I first created this bowl as a part of my Taylor Swift Albums as Breakfasts Series. Last month I shared how to make 1989 Sourdough Bagels, another meal from that series, so I thought I’d keep it up for February’s themed recipe. In case you didn’t know, I feature a Taylor Swift themed recipe every month in my Dear Reader Newsletter!

Midnight Album Smoothie Bowl

Midnights was one of my favorite albums to try and recreate, and to eat! I love the swirling colors, that I hope evoke some Lavender Haze vibes (after all, blue + red = purple…close enough to lavender? 😋). Red/pink and blue are the colors I most associate with February as well. Red/pink for Valentine’s Day, of course, and blue because it’s still winter and you may be feeling those winter blues.

The main part of this smoothie bowl is getting that red and blue smoothie swirl. I used this blue spirulina powder to get that beautiful blue color, and pink pitaya powder to make the red. These powders are on the pricier side (I was super fortunate to win a giveaway for them), but they’re very high quality and the vibrance of color is so pretty. Feel free to use another ingredient to get the blue and/or red color you want. I also have some of my fav kitchen equipment (like the blender and cookie cutters used in this recipe) all linked in my Amazon Storefront.

You can find the full recipe for this Midnights album smoothie bowl below. Plus, a YouTube video showing you the process of how I made it too!

Midnights Album Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 1 handful frozen cauliflower (opt)
  • 1 tsp blue spirulina powder
  • 1 tsp pink pitaya powder
  • 1 handful strawberries
  • 1 banana, sliced

Instructions

  1. Blend bananas in a blender until smooth (I use a vitamin). Then spoon out half the mixture into a small bowl.

  2. Mix in 1 tsp blue spirulina powder until well incorporated.

  3. Add strawberries and pink pitaya powder to the frozen bananas left in the blender, and blend. Spoon this into another bowl.

  4. In a third bowl, gradually add the blue and red smoothie mixtures, lightly swirling as you go. You want to mix them, but not too much, to retain the swirl.

  5. Add some leftover fruit to the bottom of the bowl, to help hold up letters at the top.

  6. Add cut-out letters spelling Midnights on top of the bowl (I used small letter cookie cutters, linked in my Amazon storefront!). I also added a cut out moon and star to keep with the Midnights theme, and candles on the side of the bowl completed the scene!
