San Diego Photo Highlights
In March I spent a week in the beautiful city of San Diego, CA. Here are the photo highlights, including places I visited, sights I saw, and of course some food that I ate as well. If you ever find yourself in Southern California, I highly recommend hitting some of these spots!
LA JOLLA
My first morning in San Diego dawned a beautifully sunny day. My host took me around to catch some sights. We started out in La Jolla with some stunning views of the coastline.
LA JOLLA CHILDREN’S POOL
We then made our way to the Children’s Pool, to see the La Jolla Seals. The Children’s Pool used to be a swimming area for children, but now it’s a Seal Sanctuary. There are literally hundreds of seals laying out on the shore and playing in the water. They’re quite a delight to see!
THE FLOWER FIELDS AT CARLSBAD RANCH
The Flower Fields (open from 1 March – 12th May 2019) consist of 50 acres of vibrant Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers. We went up to a lookout point behind the fields, to get a view of flowers about as far as the eye can see.
MUSEUM OF MAKING MUSIC
Across the street from the Flower Fields is the Museum of Making Music. As a musician, we decided I had to check it out – it was good fun! It’s a sweet and small museum, located on the first floor of the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Building. We went through the exhibition in about half an hour. It’s filled with interesting facts and interactive elements.
PAT FLYNN ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEWORK MEET-UP
I have been a fan of Pat Flynn for years, after discovering his podcast Smart Passive Income. He is a wealth of information, and in addition to his podcast I’ve watched his YouTube videos, taken some of his free online courses/webinars, and am continuously inspired by the helpful content he provides. So when I received an email invite to an entrepreneurship meet-up he was hosting in San Diego (when I happened to be in town) I had to go! There were loads of incredible entrepreneurs to meet and chat to, a delicious taco bar (with plenty of vegan fillings), and it was such a treat to meet Pat Flynn himself and thank him in person for the work he does!
SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY
A friend of mine teaches at San Diego State University. One day I went over to visit the campus, got a small tour, and checked out the vegan falafels at a local student eating spot.
NATURE
Over the course of my week in San Diego I went on some lovely afternoon walks. Of course my phone came with me to capture some nature shots!
FOOD
The vegan food scene in San Diego is amazing! My first evening in the city we visited a fabulous Italian restaurant where I devoured one of the best bowls of spaghetti I have ever had. The rest of the week we mainly ate in. We went shopping at Sprouts (I’m in love) and my hosts cooked me up a number of delicious and flavourful meals.
